This project develops novel ontology matching methods that exploit background knowledge in a more effective manner through evidence and information content provided by unstructured text and annotation corpora.

The developed methods are being applied to real world applications based on existing ontologies in the biomedical and geospatial areas, but they can be applied to other areas where there is a need to coordinate heterogeneous resources, such as catalog integration, p2p communication and web service composition.
